Associate of Arts

December 1995 | Scottsdale Community College

I graduated from Scottsdale Community College with dual associates degrees in 1995, shortly after turning 16.  I achieved of 3.21 through my SCC coursework, and a cumulative 3.03, inclusive of coursework from ages 14 and 15 at Palomar College (Escondido, California) and Mesa Community College (Mesa, Arizona), having transferred multiple times due to family moves.

Degree Purpose

The Associate of Arts degree is designed for students planning to transfer to four-year colleges and universities. In general, the components of the degree meet requirements for majors in the Liberal Arts or programs of study other than business or science. Generally, the degree will transfer as a block without loss of credit to Arizona’s public universities and other institutions with district-wide articulation agreements.

In most cases, courses used to satisfy the MCCCD Associate in Arts will apply to general university graduation requirements of the majors that align with the Associate in Arts degree.
